Head of Corporate Services
Superintendent Mike Leslie

Mike was appointed Head of Corporate Services in April 2010. The department is responsible for a number of areas within the force including our recruitment, budgets, information management, firearms licensing and strategic planning.

Mike is a native of Dalbeattie and joined the force in October 1985. After initial training and early years as a uniformed constable, Mike joined the CID where he was to serve for many years in a number of different roles and ranks. Prior to his promotion to Superintendent he was Acting Superintendent and head of Corporate Services at HQ. In early 2008 he was seconded to Dumfries and Galloway Council for a 3 month period to assist with a strategic review of Best Value and Community Planning.

Superintendent Leslie has completed extensive training in Crime Management, at various learning establishments across the United Kingdom, including Glasgow University, where he completed a 12 month course in Forensic Science. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia, after attending a three month course for senior police executives. His study programme included Behavioural Science, International Terrorism and Interpersonal Communication for Law Enforcement Executives.

Mike was heavily involved in the Lockerbie Bombing investigation for many years, and subsequently served as a Police Commander at the Scottish Court in the Netherlands at Kamp van Zeist. Mike was commended by the Chief Constable for his endeavours in that regard. During his career Superintendent Leslie has also received a further two commendations for outstanding performance and is a former winner of the force Probationer of the Year Award.

Mike is a married man, has two active children, and counts his hobbies as DIY and taxi driver to his kids.
