Crimestoppers DVD

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary created a stunning DVD presentation in support of a local launch of the Crimestoppers charity. The presentation was soon amended for national use by Crimestoppers and later uploaded on to the social networking website YouTube, a 'first' for Crimestoppers in Scotland.

Crimestoppers wanted to get the message across that they can help everyone. The DVD shows a varied set of circumstances highlighting the kind of issues they can help with.

The DVD was linked into YouTube to target Internet users to reach people who might not necessarily know about the work of Crimestoppers. Crimestoppers also praised Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary for coming up with such a stunning and emotive presentation in support of the charity. They acknowledged the creative effort involved in putting it together.

The presentation highlights the background and work of the charity and was designed within Police Headquarters, Dumfries. It uses a track of music provided by rock-band Marillion who's lead singer Steve Hogarth said that the band were "delighted to help out with the request" adding that he "appreciates the work of Crimestoppers and supports any initiative aimed at making communities safer places."

Crimestoppers was established in 1988 and is independent of the police and the government and committed to protecting people and communities, relying on public support to make a difference. The charity is run by volunteers and receives information around the clock via a hotline telephone number - 0800 555 111.
